Concepts

Below, main concepts related to the Chirp are explained in brief. Below screenshot is used for reference throughout the concepts.

Section

In the left hand navigation, different Groups can be classified together in what is referred to as a ‘Section’.

In the above screenshot - Company Pulse, Team Channels, Community - are Sections.

Group

In the left hand navigation, clickable menu items within Sections are Groups. A group maps to one Confluence space & shows up pages from that space in Chirp feed. Immediately after the app installation, you will have to create a few groups to get started.

In the above screenshot - Inside Company, Must read, Product Teams, Team Fun etc - are Groups.

Note - A group may or may not be put inside of a section.

Category

Category is how posts inside of a Group are further segregated. These are defined within the Group configurations by your Chirp administrator.

  • Categories are optional. If you don’t configure them for a group, no filters will be shown within that group’s main feed.

  • If one or more categories are configured, by default first filter in that group’s main feed will be ‘All Categories’

In the above screenshot - Announcements, Director’s notes, Wins - are categories within the ‘Inside Company’ group.

Collections

Collections are like categories but for groups that are configured to show ‘curated Confluence pages'.

In the screenshot below - Growth @Amoeboids & Incentives - are collections within the Policies & Processes group.
