Create version

Introduction

The way you create releases/ release versions in Jira, you can create then in the Release planning and Reports app too. However the major difference here is that you can have additional customized version attributes in your versions for better management & release planning.

Create version button is available on all the views of Releases tab.

How to create a version?

Create version button allows you to create new release versions. The same release version will reflect in your Jira project’s releases (only with Jira default fields). The difference is that when you create a version from the Release Planning & Reports app, it allows you to add Custom and Global fields along with Jira Default fields. Read Manage Version attributes to know how to configure custom fields for Create version function.

 

 

Except Name, all the fields shown above are Global/Local custom fields. Add relevant information and click on Save to create a new release version.

  • Version attributes in Manage tab allows to define the fields you want to see on Create version pop up to add necessary version related information.

  • Select coulms allows you to define the columns to be displayed in List view of Releases tab.
