Search

What are you searching for?

Once you navigate to the main app screen, you directly land on the search interface. Here, use the first dropdown to determine what entity in Jira you to search. This dropdown is activated by default (when you land on this page), and thus you can also use your keyboard to apply the required value in here.

Here’s what entities you can search through the Super search app:

  • Boards

  • Components

  • Dashboards

  • Filters

  • Issues (of course )

  • Projects

  • Queues

  • Sprints

  • Versions

Do you want to limit your search to certain projects?

Some of the entities that Super search supports can be filtered based on their associated projects. To be precise, below table details out the project selector options.

You will notice above, in some cases the project filter is not relevant (& hence hidden) and in other cases it does apply but then it may or may not be mandatory.

Notable:

  • It is possible to choose multiple projects in this filter.

  • If you are searching for Queues, only Service projects are available in the project filter.

  • Once used in a search, the app remembers projects you used in the filter.

    • For Queues, it will remember the Service projects and for other entities it will remember all of the projects.

Actual search query

This is the text box where you will write your search query. And the good news is, it follows the structure similar to JQL. Depending on which entity you are searching for, the auto-suggest feature will show up search parameters and corresponding possible values as you type.

Clicking on ‘Search’ will fetch & show the results in a table.

Here, clicking on the ‘Column settings’ icon will allow you to choose what information is displayed for the given entity along with the sequence of that information.
