ARN now supports modern & secure OAuth 2.0-based authorization for Microsoft Office 365 SMTP settings. The admin will be able to set up MS Office 365 SMTP from the ARN’s configurations page.

How to connect your email?

  • As Jira admin, go to App Menu from Jira settings >> Configurations under Automated Release Notes section >> SMTP tab

  • On the SMTP tab, select service provider as Office 365 from the dropdown

  • Select OAuth 2.0 authorization in Authorisation type

  • Add a Connection name (give a name that will help you identify the connected email account).

  • Click on the Connect your email button.

  • In the pop-up window add valid Office 365 email credentials of the email from which you wish to send ARN emails.

  • Authorize ARN app with the necessary permissions as mentioned in the pop-up.

  • That’s it, your Office 365 SMTP connection is now set up successfully.

Admin approval is required for enterprise accounts

  • If you are using Office365 enterprise account and you are trying to connect a non-admin email id then you will need approval from your email administrator. You will see the following screen on the grant permission screen.

  • Once you click on Request approval, your email administrator can approve the request from their Azure admin login.

  • Alternatively, you can use such an email Id that already has admin access, in that case above screen shall not appear.

How to revoke permissions given to ARN app?

  • Your email administrator can revoke the permissions given to ARN app through SMTP settings using the following steps.

    • Log in to the azure admin account on https://portal.azure.com/

    • Go to Azure active directory

    • In the list of applications, click on Automated release notes for Jira
