Introduction

On List view of the Releases tab, when you click on the Version name it displays the version details as shown in the image below.

Edit, Release & Archive buttons are available only for Jira project admin. They can edit, release or archive versions right from the Version details page.

This view includes three tabs -

  • Summary

  • Issues

  • Comments

Let us all of these tabs one by one

 Summary

Summary

As the name suggests it is a complete summary of the release. The below information is visible on the summary -

  • Name - Name of release

  • Start date - Release start date (if specified in release)

  • Release date - Release date (if specified in release)

  • Clicking on show more will show the Description of the release if that is specified

  • In four boxes you will see -

    • Total number of issues in the release

    • Number of issues in To Do Status

    • Number of issues in in-progress status

    • Number of issues in done status

    • Release date

Charts

  • Issue type overview - Distribution of the total number of issues by their types. Hover on each color to know the number of issues in each type

  • Statuses overview - Distribution of the total number of issues by their statuses. Hover on each color to know the number of issues in each type

Team workload

In this section, the distribution of issues in the release by assignees is displayed based on the statuses like to to, in progress, done.

Cliking on go to the list view takes you to the Issues tab

Recent activity

This section shows recent activities by different users on the issues from the release

Issues

On this tab you will see the list of issues, along with their priority, type, Key, summary, assignee names, and status.

Columns on the issue tab can be configured as needed. You can select all the Jira default and Jira custom fields as columns.

Group by dropdown allows you to group issues by Jira default and custom fields. This gives you complete flexibility over deciding your focus on issues in the release. This enables you to do better planning of the releases because of proper segmented view.

 Comments

Comments

This tab shows all the comments history on the issues from the release. This allows you to track activities going on the issues.
