Auto-sending Release Notes

On the template tab of Automated Release Notes add-on screen, there exists a toggle button that lets you automate the 'Release Notes' email on release of a version in JIRA. By default this switch is turned off.

Once a default template for the corresponding project is saved you can turn on the auto-send option. 

Important

For the auto-send feature to be turned on, a default template must exist for that project. Needless to say, system cannot send the release notes email without the following information -

  • At least one email recipient in Send to. JIRA or non-JIRA user.
  • Non-empty Email subject
  • Non-empty Email body

Important

Before saving a template as default, make sure that all the queries in the template are generating correct data in the email. Rely on the 'Use Once' action to quickly ensure that your changes in the template are not breaking anything.
