Types of Key results

Key Result types

Objectives are the goals you want to achieve & Key Results are the measurable outcome required to achieve the Objective. In other words Key results are milestones that indicate how you know you will attain the Objective. Key results should be measurable, specific, time bound & ambitious at the same time.

In UpRaise there are four types of key results.

  • Metric

  • To do

  • Jira issue

  • Jira issue (Via JQL)

Metric

Metrics are numeric key result. They have an original value & target value. You can track any type of numbers with Metric type KRs. Metric KRs are shown with Key icon.

For example -

  • Reduce page load speed to 1 second.

  • Increase sign up rate from 25% to 45% through the iOS app

To do

To do are the binary type of KRs. These are the checkbox type KRs that start from 0% and are at 100% when completed. TO do KRs are shown with Check box icon.

For example -

  • Ecommerce website created to expand reach of product

  • Complete Jira professional certification for Agile development

Jira issues

Typically, you would use Jira issues as key results in UpRaise when they do not fit in either To Do or Metric type. For example, if something needs to go through different statuses & will need action from multiple assignees.

For example - Finalize user interface designs for the mobile app - by getting sign off from 5 existing customers & keeping in mind UX field test results. Jira issue KRs are shown with selected issue type icon, eg. Epic, Bug, etc.

Jira issue (Via JQL)

If you want to add multiple Jira issues as one KR and want these issue list to be auto-updated by system, make use of Jira issues via JQL. Whenever you update issues that match the saved JQL, that change is auto-updated in UpRaise too. Jira issue (Via JQL) are displayed with </> icon.
For example -

  • Fix all bugs in the migration project

    • For this JQL would be - Project = ARN AND Issuetype = Bug AND fixVersion <= 5.0.0.

    • Whatever issue are retrieved via this JQL are added as one KR and as when Jira issue statuses are updated, progress is auto-updated within UpRaise.
