This same button shown above is also available when the issue detail is opened in a pop-up.

Clicking this button will take you to the Screenjar panel that looks like:

When a request is opened in the customer portal, assuming Screenjar is configured to be allowed on that project - one can see the Screenjar button. This button will be available to the agents as well as customers who are involved in that ticket.

  • When customers use this link, resulting screen recording/annotated screenshot is attached directly to the ticket & the attachments are available to agents as well as customers.

  • When agents use this link, the resulting attachments are visible to customers as well as agents.

  • When agents use Screenjar button within the Jira issue details page (for a Jira ticket from service project), the resulting attachments are not visible to the customers.

Clicking the button will navigate you to the steps to record your screen.

It is even possible to attach a screen recording or an annotated screenshot right when a service ticket is being created. Check out the screenshot below.

Clicking the button will open a new tab with the steps to record your screen.

Troubleshooting

  • Check that your browser preferences are not preventing the app from opening a new tab.

  • Ensure that the browser has screen & audio recording permissions on your OS settings.

Upload a screen recording or an annotated screenshot in 3 simple steps

Screen recording

  • Clicking through the Screenjar button will take you into the Screen recording flow. (If you trigger Screenjar from the issue details page, this step will be skipped & you will directly land on next step) This is how the recorder screen will look like. Here you will see what Jira issue the recording will be attached post-completion (e.g. AOS-7469). You can record audio along with your screen by turning on the Microphone audio toggle.

Clicking on Start recording screen opens the following pop-up.

  • Select the appropriate option based on what you need to record on your screen.

  • Once you click on ‘Share’, screen recording will start right within your browser.

  • Clicking on ‘Stop recording’ will bring you to the following page. Click on Upload to Jira issue and the mp4 recording will be attached to Jira issue in the background.

Review your recording, rename if necessary or download. Once you click on ‘Upload to Jira issue’, the mp4 will be attached automatically in the background.

Annotated screenshot

  • Clicking through the Screenjar button will take you into the screenshot flow. (If you trigger Screenjar from the issue details page, there is a separate ‘Screenshot’ button). This is how the recorder screen will look like. Here you will see what Jira issue the screenshot will be attached post-completion (e.g. AOS-7469).

  • Next, you see the below screen. Default instructions will be based on your OS, but you can always see instructions for the other OS by clicking right bottom corner link.

  • Once you follow the steps, your screenshot will appear within a frame that support annotations of various kinds.

  • Complete the annotation, click the ‘tick’ icon in the top right corner. And you will see the last step.

  • Review the annotated screenshot. Rename it, download it or Upload to Jira issue directly.
