Carry forward an objective

Given the 'stretch OKRs' recommendation of OKRs methodology, chances are that teams may not be able to complete all OKRs in one cycle. Some OKRs may be important enough that they should be worked upon, even in the next cycle. In such situations, Carry forward action comes into play.

Carry forward option is available only for Ready for grading and Ready to close objectives.

Steps to carry forward an objective

Carry forward a ‘Ready for grading’ objectives

  • Navigate to relevant objective details page >> Click Grade and close option at the top of objective details page

  • Add grades and remarks >> Grade & carry forward option.

Now on grading page, complete all the grading and remarks and click on Grade and Carry forward.

On the Carry forward objective pop-up, select the relevant objective cycle and adjust the Start and due date (if needed). This will keep the source objective as it is in carried forward status and new objective will be created.

Carry forward a ‘Ready to close’ objective

When grading is turned off in an objective cycle, all the objectives from that cycle will be in Ready to close status when the due date is passed. For these objectives, Carry forward action is available in the top section of the objective details page.

On Carry Forward Objective pop up , select the objective cycle where you want to carry forward the objective and adjust Start and due date (if needed), click on Carry forward.
