Setting up a custom domain for release pages

Background

By default release pages get hosted on release. page domain. Now, you can set up your own custom domain/subdomain to host your release pages. This will allow your release pages to use URL like http://releases.yourcompany.com

Only for ARN Paid app

This feature is only available in ARN paid app. The ARN free app does not support custom domain/subdomain for the release pages.

Steps to configure custom domain/sub-domain

  • Navigate to the configurations option for ARN under the ‘Manage apps’ menu which is accessible for Jira admins.

  • Navigate to the Release page domain tab.

  • There are three steps to configure a custom domain/sub-domain for your release pages.

Step1 : Update your DNS

Add CNAME settings in your domain registrar login to point your custom domain to cname.release.page under the DNS settings.

Step 2: Add your custom domain

  • Enable custom domain settings

  • Confirm in step 1 if you have already added a CNAME record with your domain registrar. (You can confirm this later if it is not added yet)

  • Enter your custom URL and click on Add

Step 3: SSL Configuration

  • Click on Request SSL button and save settings to submit SSL request.

Note, after you click on request SSL button it is important to click on save button to send your SSL request.

  • We will configure the SSL certificate for the custom URL within 1-2 working days.

  • If not confirmed already, you can confirm here CNAME settings are added to your domain registrar.

  • Once SSL certificate is added, you will see the updated status on this screen.

  • Custom URL status will change to Active when both CNAME settings and SSL are added.

  • Your release pages are now live on the custom URL.

The configured custom domain/subdomain will be applicable for all the release pages that are created in ARN on your Jira instance. Hence make sure you select a generic domain which is suitable for all the release pages.

Custom domain URL on release page listing page

You will also be able to see the custom domain status on the release page listing page.

  • Disabled - This means custom domain settings are not added or disabled.
