How to add Jira issues as actions in metrics and to do KRs?

KR actions in metric and to do type of KRs can be added in two ways.

  • Jira issues as action

  • Jira issues as action via JQL

When Jira issues need to have some impact on your objective progress you can add them as KRs. However, Jira issues may contribute just as important actions in your OKRs which necessarily should not have an impact on the objective or KR progress. Therefore, the system allows adding these actions by two different ways. You can these KR actions only in metric and to do type KRs (Not in Jira issues type KRs).

Add Jira issue as an action in KRs

  • Navigate to the relevant metric or to do KR detail page. (in images, taken an example of metric type KR).

  • Click on 'add new' in actions section.

  • Click on Jira issue.

  • Click on next.

  • Search for relevant Jira issues with the help of basic or advanced search.

  • Select relevant Jira issue that you want to add as an action.

  • Click on next & then save.

Look at the image below, Jira issue is added as action in actions section.

Also, you can notice even if the Jira issue resolution is changed, it does not impact on KR progress because it just plays a role of an action.

Within UpRaise panel of Jira issue detail page, you can see details of KR alignment with Jira issues/epics as actions.

Jira issues as action via JQL

  • These actions can be added only if relevant settings are true. Read How to manage key result configurations?

  • You cannot add these actions in Jira issue type KRs.

  • These actions can be added only in metric and to do type KRs for informational purpose. This linkage does not impact on the progress of metric, to do or objective.
